Hello, pre-pro_surfer! (Not pre-pro_surferClick here.)

Home Shot of the Week Hee Hee Hee Fakes Sniping Selling

Since eBay figures so largely in the lives of online pre-pro collectors, it seemed appropriate to create an area of pre-pro.com dedicated to the selling, sniping and stomping, not to mention being stomped.

One thing you won't find here is tips on searching out the pre-pros.  Each bidder has their own tried and true secret searches that gives them an edge over the competition when it comes to finding glasses of interest.  For what it's worth, eBay does have a category named "Shot Glasses" that's definitely worth checking in on occasionally.

Good hunting!!

***   eBay ALERT!   ***

If you have an account with eBay, then you need to read this.

eBayers  are being deluged with spoof e-mails that appear to come from eBay or from Paypal but are actually fraudulent.  They attempt to trick you into revealing login and account information.

They come in various guises and they're all very convincing because they look EXACTLY like an bona fide eBay or Paypal web page.

The most recent (8/2003) was purported to be from eBay, dangling an SUV to be awarded in a random drawing.  All I had to do was "sign in" using my id and password, typed into the all-too-familiar sign-in boxes.

I've also received e-mails suggested to be a security check - a message that looked like a genuine eBay sign in page and I was requested to fill in the id and password box  to confirm my identity.  Had I done so, my password would have transmitted goodness knows where.  Again, the message was TOTALLY CONVINCING - I was almost fooled, but instead wrote to eBay to question such a procedure.  Here's the response:

"The message you received was not sent by eBay nor was it endorsed by us in any way. By altering the reply-to address for this email, this message may appear to have come from an eBay email address, when it actually came from an external email address. This also means that hitting the reply to button will send the message to the altered email
address in the reply to field.  This process is commonly referred to as "Spoofing".

Please remember that eBay will never ask you for your private information, including credit card information or password, in an email. Also, eBay will never provide a link outside of eBay for entering credit card or other private information. If you ever need to give us information, it is suggested that you go to the main website and follow
links there to the site map or any other place you may need to give information.  That way you are certain you are giving your information to us and not a third party.

In the future if you receive a similar email, do not respond to it, and contact us through the Rules and Safety Support at the following URL:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/basics/select-RS.html

or forward the message to: spoof@ebay.com."

Bottom line is - NEVER respond to ANY e-mails coming from eBay or Paypal that ask you to enter information and click "send".

They are 100% bogus!!

If either eBay or Paypal need anything from you, you will be directed to go independently to their main sites (www.ebay.com or www.paypal.com) and log in there for further information.
