I suppose that people can buy or collect for whatever reasons they want. Price trends aren't too much of a concern to me. I just buy what I like for what I can afford. But I'm not a speculator; I'm a collector.

It is rather disappointing that there is precious little discussion of the history behind these vitreous vessels on the pre-Pro boards that I follow. The wealth of information represented by pre-Prohibition shot glasses is the most fascinating part of collecting to me. Greater knowledge and research of the brands, distillers, and dealers would go a long way toward advancing the interest and progress of pre-Pro shot collecting.

It should be interesting to see just how much the perceived "plummeting" affects the auction of that JD Nashville glass that's currently up for bids on eBay. And by the way, the world of pre-Pro collecting goes far beyond any online auction sites. I just found several nice specimens in the wild over the weekend that I've never seen come up for auction anywhere. Getting out into the real world to find shot glasses is a great adventure!
