The distillery was established in 1881 by F G Paine & Co.

1890: Bernheim Bros. acquired an interest in the distillery.

1892: Insurance underwriter records suggest that the distillery was of frame construction. The property included cattle pens 45 ft north of No 3 warehouse, new cattle barns 300 ft NW of the still houses, and thee warehouses:
Warehouse No. 1 -- frame with a metal or slate roof, located 175ft east of the still. Part of the warehouse was Free
Warehouse No. 2 -- iron-clad with a metal or slate roof, located 102 ft east of the still
Warehouse No. 3 -- brick with a metal or slate roof, located 280 ft east of the still.

At that time, it was doing business as at least 25 different companies, as shown below.

1896: In March, a fire razed the distillery and its bonded warehouses.
