This glass is from the Hermann Masonic Lodge: "F&AM" stands for "Free & Accepted Masons". The leader in 1900 was Robert Meyer, who was the Worshipful Master ("WM"). The Lodge was located in Philadelphia but in May 1998 merged with Humbolt Lodge to form the Hermann-Humbolt Lodge No. 125. The lodge still exists and meets in Warminster, PA., north of Philadelphia.

The sword-wielding figure on the glass is Arminius-Hermann, the Cheruscan who united the German tribes in 9 A.D. and defeated the Roman army under Varus thus ending the Roman domination of Germany. There are statues bearing his likeness in Detmold, Germany, and also in New Ulm, MN.

Information kindly provided by David Sampson (meistervomstuhl@*******.***).
