Holmes was listed under various guises in the city directory from 1874 to 1912. Originally as just W.H. Holmes, then added a son in 1885 and incorporated as the Wm H. Holmes Co. in 1901. In 1911, company letterheads were showing the owners to be G E Crone (President), G A Beerman (Vice President), and J L Crone (Secretary & Treasurer).
