A poster issued by Shea, Bocqueraz Co. of San Francisco, CA., advertising Tea Cup whiskey. It is signed "Warum?, Copyright 1907 by Philip Boileau" and has been self-framed, outside dimensions around 16" x 20". Philip Boileau was an artist/illustrator who painted beautiful women in the manner of Harrison Fisher. His "Boileau Girls" are generally regarded as appearing the most dignified of all other early 20th c illustrators. In a 1915 art competition sponsored by Pictorial Review Magazine, readers voted for their favorite artist as "Artist of the Year". Boileau came in 2nd place, finishing closely behind childhood and infant artist Bessie Pease Gutmann.
