A patented lock-stopper from the Hayner Distilling Co of Dayton, OH. The lock-stopper was designed to fit and lock into the neck of a back-bar decanter that has been molded with a ring to accept the locking mechanism. It is approximately 2" long and measures 1-1/4" across the face.

In this example, the face is inscribed with divisions at the numerals that extend from the rim to a ring of text that encircles the center knob. Shorter divisions fall at the quarter markes between numerals. The container in which it was mailed is a cylinder with red crimped closures, and mentions the Dayton, St. Louis, St. Paul and Chattanooga offices. The reverse is printed with warnings against infringement of the patent granted April 20, 1897. An instruction sheet was included in the complete package
