A patented lock-stopper from the Hayner Distilling Co of Dayton, OH. The lock-stopper was designed to fit and lock into the neck of a back-bar decanter with a ring molded into the neck to accept the locking mechanism.

This example is extremely rare and may be the orginal model. The body is in brass like most others but the face is stamped with letters rather than numerals. They spell out the words "H·A·Y·N·E·R·D·I·S·T·C·O" and the text encircling the center knob reads "PAT.APRIL 20,1897". The lug(s) that cause the stopper to lock itself in the neck of the bottle are much longer than in other versions. The container in which it was mailed was a box rather than the more common cylinder with crimped closures, and mentions only the Dayton office.
