Established 1842(?). Around 1880, Morris Flatau Sr. was clerking for Sam Weichselbaum in his saloon at 93 Cherry St. By 1884, he is shown as manager of "Flatau & Co., Whisky" at 85 Cherry St. Three years later, S. Altmayer & Co. were wholesaling liquor, cigars and tobacco at that address with Morris and Isaac Flatau as salesmen. Altmayer & Flatau Co. appear in 1890 at 412 3rd st. as wholesalers of liquors and cigars. By 1907, the year Georgia went dry, Magnus, Ralph and Samuel Altmayer were all employed in the company. Advertising flyer from the company (not dated) claims them to be "the oldest and largest wholesale liquor house in middle Georgia", 506-542 4th St, Macon, GA.

The company used the brand names:
"Alliance", "Farmers Alliance", "Kentucky Corn", "Old Kentucky Corn", "Old Sharp Williams", and "Pointer Club."
