From OASG: "M. V. Monarch Sour Mash Distillery No. 17 (2nd Dist. Owensboro). Snyder (OBM June 1974) dates them 1868-1920. In Carson's (p. 82) brief account, Monarch started in a small way in 1867, but he bought up other Daviess County distilleries and by the 1890s was described as 'king of the whiskey trade in Kentucky.' According to Coyte, For a number of years, the company was owned and operated by M. V. Monarch, pres., P. E. Payne, secy. and F. W. Clarke, treas. Payne was in charge of sales. (Coyte Papers)".

"Cliff Falls", "Daylight Special", "E. C. Berry", "Eagle", "Jockey Club", "John Hanning", "John Hanning", "Kentucky Cyclone", "Kentucky Tip", "M. V. Monarch", "Maryland Rye", "Millett", "Monarch's Maryland Pure Rye", and "Sovereign."
