Est. 1855.
The city directories are filled with McGlinns in the liquor business, so untangling the relationships among them is difficult, even with the availability of home address information. "Philadelphia, Old & New" provides some back ground: John McGlinn was born in County Tyrone in Ireland and emigrated in 1840. He founded the business in 1855 and in 1860 his two Irish-born sons (Edward and John Jr.) became partners and the name changed to John McGlinn & Sons. John Sr died in 1879. The business was a 3 storey and basement building, 22 x 85 feet.

The company used the brand name: "Clover Club ."
