John T. Barbee & Co. listed from 1893-1919.
Jno. T. Barbee had formerly been associated with Jno. G. Roach & Co., but in 1892 bought the J & F Laval distillery 4-1/2 miles west of Versailles, Kentucky.
The output of the still was sold as "Old Barbee" under the firm name of Jno. T. Barbee & Co.
Barbee died in 1900 after which the company was renamed Jno. T. Barbee Co. and the brand "Watterson Club" added.
In 1912, Hermann Volkerding, the company's president, died, leading to a reorganization merging with the John C. Weller Co. of Louisville, with John C. Weller, President and Ed. M. Babbitt, Vice President. (Coyte Papers).
Brand names used by this company include: "Forest Rose", "Jeff Clark", "Kentucky Knight", "Major Hughes", "Old Barbee", "Old Mask Lee Rye", "Paul Barbee Rye", "Tip Tyler", "True Hand", and "Watterson Club."
