Milton S Kronheim began working in his father's saloon at age 11 and opened his first liquor store at age 14 in 1902. They bottled and labeled whiskey in their store and sold it for 24c/pint. First day sales came to $6. DC went dry in 1917 and Kronheim operated a clothing store and a bail bonding business. After repeal, he went back into the liquor business as a wholesaler and supplied the White House during the Roosevelt and Truman years (OASG).
