According to Thomas (WBO), the Perkins Hotel was built by Richard S Perkins in 1891. It was located at the corner of Washington & 5 th and included a restaurant and bar. Perkins ran the hotel until 1896 (John W Hodson and George E Good operated it for a year in 1893), with Charles W Knowles becoming manager in 1897. Clarles McIlrath took it over in 1899.

The bar (located at the 293 Washington entrance) was operated by Ulysses G Scott until 1903, when George Schultz took over. Schultz begins listing at 120 5 th from 1907 onward when he opened his own watering hole, "The Northern Buffet".
