New Hope, KY. T H Sherley & Co. agents (1891-1893)
This was the city office for the New Hope Distillery, one of two stills built side-by-side at New Hope. Cecil notes that the first still on the site was built by Henry Miles and was small (5 bushels/day), but when the L & N Railroad reached New Hope, he and his son E L Miles built a new plant (The E L Miles & Co. Distillery) capable of mashing 20 bushels a day. The output of the distillery was handled by Thomas H Sherley, a distiller and commission merchant from Louisville. Sherley was later became known as the architect of the Kentucky Distilleries & Warehouse Co., one of the companies that emerged from reorganization of The Trust.
The New Hope Distillery Co. distillery (office in Louisville) was built alongside the E L Miles & Co. around 1875 by Miles and Sherley. This was a much larger plant and produced the "New Hope" brand.Sherley died around 1900 and Miles sold out to the Kentucky Distilleries and Warehouse Company.

No copies of listings in any category for 1896, 1898, 1899, 1900, 1901. 1888 has a partial list of Importers (not found in copies for other years). 1905 copies include Saloons (not incorporated). 1906 is incomplete for distillers, missing wholesalers.
1881 witnessed a major city-wide street reorganization so all addresses change. In 1909, there is a second renumbering and this year shows both old and the new number in brackets.
