Information from Thomas' PCSF suggests that the company was started by Mendle Rothenberg. The company premises on Kearny were badly damaged by the 1906 quake, which forced the move to Pine.

Thomas suggests that Mendle's son Israel Albert Rothenberg joined the company as a salesman but ended up taking it over, c 1909-1913. Prohibition forced the company to close.
