Thomas (in "Whiskey Bottles") suggests that Henry Campe began business in 1862 with a grocery and liquor store at 2 nd & Tehama. He later partnered with George Siebe but by 1887 had left the partnership and set up a new wholesale liquor business and called it Henry Campe & Co. Henry died in 1900 and his son Harry ran it until Prohibition.
