"Old Velvet" is a brand used by several companies so it's difficult to determine the origins of this glass. It was used by Neller, Shirmer & Co. in San Francisco, CA., J & G Butler Co. (Columbus OH) registered the name in 1891 (Snyder, WBr), and Snyder also shows it being used by W. L. Perkins & Co. of St. Paul, MN.
