Edmonson lists variants with and without a gold rim, but the rimless versions all have specks of gold remaining that can be seen when examined under a loupe. There may be no true rimless variants.
An letter dated 1914 shows Alexander Rieger as the sole owner of J. Rieger & Co. They claimed to be the "largest mail-order whiskey house in the United States".
